For the hot gunning repair of steel ladles in the LD 3 steel mill, voestalpine Stahl GmbH uses a new lance manipulator from VELCO at the Linz plant in Austria. The steel mill has several repair stands for ladles with currently 3 tilting stands. The lance manipulator has an emission-free electric drive with its own battery and can therefore be used on any of these tilting stands.

The gunning process is controlled by a radio remote control. Furthermore, the manipulator has an additional cable control for the driving operation only. On the trolley there is a hose reel for the supply of gunning water and a cable reel for the electrical connection to the gunning machine.
