For areas where no fix installed gunning manipulators can be mounted, Velco designed the mobile types PNEUTOP and MobiGUN. If the plant has available several furnaces these can be all be repaired by one mobile gunning manipulator.

METOP
HYTOP
The gunning manipulator HYTOP serves for the gunning repair of the electric arc furnace through opened furnace cover. The manipulator is placed nearby the furnace, lifted by a hydraulic cylinder and moved into the furnace from the top. The length of the extension arm is adapted to the conditions at site; usual lengths are 8-11 m. The gunning lance can rotate endless by 360° and lifted by 90°. The gunning head is insulated by ceramic fibre and cooled by compressed air.
Gunning capacities of up to 250 kg/min. are possible.
The scope of supply comprises a hydraulic station, a control cabinet with graphic display for visualization, a radio control and a station with water pump and water regulating valve.
It allows a semi-automatic gunning repair in combination with a gunning machine of the Velco delivery program. Moreover, it is possible to program pre-defined gunning sequences or to use data from a laser scanner.
As option the extension arm can be manufactured in parallelogram design, where the gunning heard is always in vertical position independently from the lifting of the extension arm. This is of advantage when furnaces with a high shaft have to be repaired or if only limited space is available for the parking of the manipulator.
PNEUTOP
It is balanced and stabilised by means of weights. The gunning head is insulated with ceramic fibre and cooled with compressed air. The manipulator is equipped with compressed air drives. The gunning lance can rotate by +/- 190° and be lifted by ± 45°. Gunning capacities from 100 – 150 kg/min. are possible.
The operator can control the motions of the gunning lance and the start of gunning machine by a radio control, the amount of gunning water can be adjusted by a regulation valve.
The scope of supply comprises a support frame to set the manipulator in parking position.
MobiGUN
The gunning manipulator MobiGUN is a gunning manipulator for the electric arc furnace.
Basis of this is a solid telescope fork lift with diesel drive onto which a hydraulic extension arm with electro-mechanical gunning head is mounted. The MobiGUN can be used for all electrical arc furnaces and even for bigger ladles available in a steel plant, since it is automobile and it can be transported/lifted to other levels by a crane.
It must only be connected to the material and water supply by means of hoses. A pressure increasing pump for water is integrated in the vehicle.
The MobiGUN is driven to the furnaces to be repaired and the extension arm is placed in the furnace at opened furnace cover. Afterwards the operator leaves the driver’s cabin and carries out the gunning repair by the radio control. The gunning lances rotates by ±180° and it can be lifted resp. lowered by 90°.
The dimensions of the extension arm make it possible to reach any area even those of the biggest electric arc furnaces. Hence, the MobiGUN is a cost-saving all-rounder especially for customers having several furnaces placed side-by-side.
